Summary: Excellent vacation rental in a relatively uncrowded neighborhood of Villa Nova de Gaia across the Douro River and accesible to Douro by a quick walk (fifteen or twenty minutes - about a mile) over the super scenic main bridge to the Center of the City. Clean, spacious and comfortable. It's in an apartment building on a large avenue, so city noise can be heard at the front of the apartment but not at all from the bedrooms. Well equipped kitchen with multiple coffee makers and everything needed to fix breakfast or to spend an evening eating in. Two markets within a five minute stroll. Two baths with showers (one with a bidet!). One shower is European style: bathtub with a hand held shower - totally usable but may be an adjustment for Americans. The apartment has a washer, and a couple options to hang laundry. Linens and towels changed twice during our two week stay. Convenient in-building parking, though the space is small and very tightly angled by North American standards. Sonia and her colleagues were very responsive and helpful day and night. This is a great choice for groups of four to six.
