Positive: The location was perfect, set along the colourful cobbled streets of Rua Santa Maria, where every door is painted as part of an open-air art project. It was also conveniently next door to a lovely bakery. I had a very warm welcome on arrival, and the entrance up the stairs was beautiful, with soft jazz playing in the mornings that created such a relaxing atmosphere. The bedroom was exceptionally clean, I could smell the fresh polish when I walked in and it included English tea, a kettle, and a fridge, towels, shampoo, shower gel, soap and toilet roll. The instructions provided were very clear, and the host’s English was excellent, which made everything even easier. The area had plenty of restaurants, a local Spar, a post box, and the cable cars and marina were only a five-minute walk away. I felt exceptionally safe throughout my stay.

Negative: The only small downside was a bit of noise late at night on the evening the Christmas lights were being switched on, but this was understandable given the event.

Summary: Gorgeous space, great location, and a really welcoming feel. Would definitely stay again.
