A short drive from the villa is the quaint village of Prazeres, with a selection of excellent local restaurants as well as a mini market. Villa Fig Tree is fantastically located close to the small village of Prazeres and surrounded by lush Madeiran countryside. Within easy reach of the villa is access to some of the incredible levada walks that make Madeira a walkers paradise. A short drive from the villa you'll find several wonderful local restaurants and bars as well as a mini market to pick up the essentials. A 15 minute drive will take you to the sandy, man-made beach of Calheta where you can also find a selection of restaurants and a larger supermarket. The capital of Funchal is just a 45 minute drive and is well worth a visit whilst you're on the island.
